Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the lantern and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using excellent-quality batteries.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries or the lantern could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Recharge the light timely when the battery level is critical, for future use.
  • Recharge a stored light every three months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • Replace the dust cover when charging is complete to ensure waterproof and dustproof performance.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance, as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

This a fantastic small lantern. Incredibly well engineered. I at first was concerned about getting the battery in and out of the device. I was surprised to find that the lid is magnetic and just lifts the battery out. A simple but well thought out design. Fenix puts thought into their products and that really makes them a great choice and well worth the price.

Great light, just wish they kept the glow in dark power button like the older CL25R

This light will burn the retinas out of your eyes. It’s has to be in 6500K range or higher. On full power you can’t look at it with out seeing spots when you look away. It’s way to white of a light. If they picked a softer light the product would be amazing. It works as advertised but the LED temp is just way to white.

I also own the the CL30R and that lantern they got right. I liked it so much I ordered three more. They need to make the CL26R the same color range and then it would be perfect and a backpackers dream. But I will be returning this lantern as I find it unusable for anything.

TrtyjIt’s small and bright but the color temp is like 6000K. No warmth at all. It definitely made as A tent light and when hung in a tent the light from the bottom is real good Quality is 3 or 4 stars but I’m sending it back.

If your backpacking you might find it to be just perfect. But in an established camp the bright 6000K light is just to much. It’s definitely a backpackers light due to size and output. Now that being said if you van get the CL30R model it it simply amazing.

Unfortunately, this stopped working after a few months, and I haven’t received any response from the company about honoring the warranty.

Warranty has sent you an email. If you haven’t received it I would check your spam folder.

Compact, light, and bright. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Another quality fenix product. Light may be small, but it is bright or any other level of light you need. I bought several for Christmas presents, buy it , you won’t regret it !

Great light, quality construction, Fenix products are top notch.

I purchased this lantern to try it out and I’m completely amazed by how bright and well constructed it is for such a small piece of gear. My fellow gear enthusiast purchased one as soon as he saw me give a demonstration. It is that impressive! I also own a UCO Pika lantern that also acts as a flashlight. Although the UCO’s flashlight is brighter than the one on the Fenix CL26R, the fact that the Fenix allows for different modes of brightness (as well as 2 red light modes) and can run on the same rechargeable 18650 batteries that my 2 Fenix flashlights do, means that this lantern will make the cut when packing for my next lightweight backpacking adventure!

The one thing Fenix could do to improve this lantern is to add lumens to the flashlight mode. Not a showstopper as this piece of gear is designed to be a lantern first, but since they have already introduced the flashlight on the bottom of the lantern, they may as well make it a more useful option (as it stands, the lumen output is quite dim)

Absolutely brilliant in design and execution.

Great little lantern. Brighter than expected.

  13. mitch c. (verified owner)

Nice light, small in size but puts out more light than expected.

For utility uses only, I’d give it 10 stars. You can see and navigate with ease no matter how dark your environment is. The power source is great, you can carry extra 18650 batteries to slap in if you need to. You don’t have to take an extra charger — the lantern can charge the 18650’s from a USB power source – I haven’t tried to charge it yet from my solar panel but shouldn’t be a problem.
    The size is great!

For relaxing camping, it only gets 4 stars. The light is so bright it borders on harsh. It definitely needs another level of brightness between medium and high — it’s missing that “Goldilocks” zone for comfort camping. It also needs tint warm up, at least a +1 or +2 of yellow, and a tad higher CRI.

A nice small handheld unit. Puts out great light levels. Use a 3500 mAh cell for best runtimes. Nice overall build quality.
