Operation Instruction

Press and hold the switch for 0.8 seconds to turn ON/OFF the camp lantern.

Output Selection

  • When the lantern is on, single-click the switch to cycle through Eco→Low→Mid→High→Turbo
  • With the lantern on, double-click the switch to enter into Flash mode and single-click to turn back to previous state.

The camp lantern only lights up at Mid output when being charged.

Battery Level Indicator
With the light off, single-click the side switch to enter power display. The number of the constant-on light shows the battery power.

One shows the battery power is less than 35%, two constant-on show the range 36%-60%, three constant-on show the range 61%-85%, four constant-on show the battery power is over 85%. The indicator light will go out after 8 seconds.

Intelligent Memory Circuit
The lantern memorizes the last-used brightness level in General Mode. Next time you turn it on, it will recall the previously used brightness level in General Mode.

Low-voltage Warning Function
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the indicator light on the switch blinks to remind you to recharge the camp lantern or replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the camp lantern will not turn off automatically until the battery runs out.

Note: This only works on 18650 Li-ion batteries with button top.

To Charge the CL30R
When charging, connect the USB cable to a USB power adaptor (sold separately), and remove the anti-dust plug at the top of the camp lantern to reveal the charging port and plug the Micro-USB end of the USB cable into the light’s charging port. Then the indicator light on the switch turns red to indicate the charging process has begun. The indicator turns solid green when the battery is fully charged. Fenix recommends using a power adaptor with output 5V, 1.5A. It takes about 8.5 hours to fully charge three 2600mAh Fenix ARB-L18-2600mAh 18650 Li-ion batteries.

To Charge other Devices
The camp lantern can be connected to USB cables for digital products such as mobile phones with standard Micro-USB charging port.

Note: 1. Once charging is completed, disconnect the USB cable from the lantern and be sure to secure the anti-dust plug covered.

  1. Please do not charge the camping lantern when the light is turned on, doing so will extend the charging time or the battery can not be fully charged. If emergency lighting needed, the camp lantern only lights up at Mid output when being charged.

Battery Replacement

  • Unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise
  • Insert the battery with the anode side (+) toward the light’s head
  • Put the battery cover back on and screw it clockwise to secure it

Note: The camping lantern is shipped with Fenix 2600 mAh ARB-L18-2600 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery. Please remove the battery insulation tab before first use.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using excellent quality battery. If the flashlight will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the flashlight could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the flashlight’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the flashlight to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:

Reason A: The batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace batteries (Please confirm the correct installation of anode and cathode).

Reason B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please refer to the warranty policy before contacting your authorized distributor.

  1. James M. (verified owner)

Nice bright lantern. Would be nice if it had a folding stand.

  2. Joe Hunt (verified owner)

Great lantern. I really like the 300 – 400 hour battery life of lowest setting. It is sufficient for once person doing close work or in a tent. The brightest setting is almost too bright to be near the lantern. A bit heavy for backpacking but I’m young and it will be the lantern I bring. Also will be for on my stand up paddle board

  3. James M. (verified owner)

Well built, sturdy and very bright. Like that 18650 batteries come out but can also be charged in the lantern.

  4. Jerry Robbins (verified owner)

Absolutely the best out there. Fenix is top notch all the way.

  5. Terry (verified owner)

It is a bright, compact, lightweight lantern that puts out a lot of light for night time activities in a trailer or outside. It does not throw a long distance beam but it was not designed for that. I’m very happy with it.

  6. mike

I have 2 and one only uses 2 of the 3 batteries, one slot is dead. Both of them do not use the batteries uniformly. If I take the batteries out to charge I will have 3 different voltage like 3.3, 3.9, 3.5. The lantern will show 1 star of charge because 1 battery is dead.

I love it!! Gets the job done perfectly

  8. Mark C. (verified owner)

Super bright and compact, really like it both as a light and as a charging station.

  9. John Eric Simmons (verified owner)

well built and lasts forever on even the highest setting.

  10. Andrew Y. (verified owner)

Great lantern. Small and powerful light.

  11. WALTER (verified owner)

This lantern is a compact powerhouse that is built as solid as a bank vault and delivers high performance, excellent quality and dependability. The area of the country where I live is experiencing more occurrences of severe weather in every season. Everything from repeated blizzards in Winter to tornados in the Spring and Summer. With more foul weather increasing the potential for power outages, this lantern with its long runtime is a welcome added measure of security. It is a 5-Star product if ever there was one.

  12. Michael (verified owner)

Very good emergency lantern. Wish you had more control over the light pattern

  13. Randall K. (verified owner)

Excellent lantern. Extremely bright on the “high” setting. Got to love Fenix Quality!

    Quality Product

  16. Edward J. (verified owner)

Great lantern. Very well built. Feels like quality in my hands. I only wish I had a choice of what batteries come with it. I would have picked larger 3500 mAh batteries. This choice would have added to the cost. Still I am very happy with purchase.

  17. Angela Swart (verified owner)

    Will get again

  18. Anonymous (verified owner)

    Worth it.

  19. Keith Hogan (verified owner)

    Very satisfied

  20. Tom B. (verified owner)

My son bought one first and I loved it. No more packing a large gas lantern. I have three other Fenix products so this falls right in line with them.

  21. Mark (verified owner)

Best lantern I’ve found anywhere! Quality construction, compact, bright and doubles as a power bank. Like it so much I purchased a second one!

  22. Lauren Johnson (verified owner)

I will never cease to be amazed at the superb quality of Fenix products. I currently have 3 lights from them and they are all of high quality. Fenix is the best brand out there when it comes to lighting.

  23. Travis R. (verified owner)

Another great light from Fenix! Very bright on its highest!

  24. Quinn

USB port will not charge my Google Pixel phone. Yes it’s a USB-c to USB cable. Not enough power output?

    • Fenix Lighting USA

We are sorry to hear that it’s not charging your google phone. It should be able to at least provide charge to any device. One of the USB ports or the cable may not be working properly, check those out. Hope this helps!

  25. Kenneth R Olowin

I own a lot of camping lanterns. The Fenix CL30R is by far the best. You can feel the quality just by holding it, and the performance is second to none with bright natural light, that will illuminate a room easily, with a long battery life per charge. My electricity went out for a couple hours the other night, and the Fenix lit up the room like nothing ever happened. I have lanterns that are much bigger and bulkier, use more batteries in a short amount of time, and don’t put out nearly the amount of light. The Fenix CL30R is certainly my go-to lantern. Thank you Fenix.

  26. Will (verified owner)

Fenix CL30R arrived today and I must say I am very pleased. This compact rechargeable lantern puts out a lot of neutral white light. I am most impressed with the even transition of output through the 5 levels via the UI switch. Believe me turbo is plenty bright for most any outdoor use and will probably be called for sparingly … very bright on turbo. This unit is built like a tank as are my CL25R and CL20. I am very happy with my purchase and will be putting this fine little lantern to work in Baja next month …. money well spent IMHO.
