Fenix ARB-L18-3400U 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery is recommended for maintaining perfect lighting performance.
Warning: Do not mix batteries of different brands, sizes, capacities or types. Doing so may cause damage to the flashlight or the batteries being used.

*18650 /16340 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only use quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; but cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light body and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light body back on.

LD30 Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to recharge the battery. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery level runs out.
Note: This only works with Fenix 18650 Li-ion battery.

Intelligent Downshift

Time-limited Downshift
After 5 minutes of maintenance, the brightness of the flashlight decreases by about 30 lumens every 6 seconds, and until to about 1200 lumens.

Overheat Protection

  1. With the light switched on High output level, and the temperature is detected ≥55°C. The brightness of the flashlight decreases by about 30 lumens every 6 seconds, and until to about 400 lumens. If the temperature is detected <55°C, the brightness of the flashlight increases by about 30 lumens every 6 seconds, and until to about 800 lumens. After the brightness downshifting, High output can be reselected.
  2. With the light switched on Turbo output level, and the temperature is detected ≥55°C. The brightness of the flashlight decreases by about 30 lumens every 6 seconds, and until to about 400 lumens. If the temperature is detected <55°C, the brightness of the flashlight increases by about 30 lumens every 6 seconds, and until to about 1200 lumens. If the temperature exceeds 55°C in the first 5 minutes, the brightness will drop directly to 800 lumens. After the brightness downshifting, Turbo output can be reselected.

Voltage Downshift

When the voltage level drops below 3V, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. (After the downshifting, other output levels can be selected by single clicking the side switch, but if the battery voltage is still detected below 3V, the downshifting will begin after 1 second).

Usage and Maintenance of the Fenix LD30

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation. Recharge a stored battery every four months to maintain optimal battery performance.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp’s performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently, or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don’t work, please contact your authorized distributor.

This flashlight is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the flashlight directly into anyone’s eyes.

I have 3 different Fenix flashlights and I am Extremely HAPPY with all 3- Fenix flashlights that I have.

  2. Anonymous (verified owner)

Really like the compact size. Super bright. We have been having a lot of bears in the neighborhood lately and it really lights them up.

I bought the LD 30 because it was small and 1600 lumens. I have it in my glove compartment in the car.
What a brilliant light. The controls are easy along with the recharging. I also keep 2 CR 123 (3 volt) batteries for back up just in case. You will be very happy with this light. It is so powerful you could use it as a search light. This one is A1.

  5. Baz

Looks like a great flashlight but the bezel doesn’t sit perfectly flush on all sides. It is slightly off centre so overhangs slightly on one side enough to challenge my perfectionist mind set. You can catch it with a finger nail. Probably within tolerances but I always expect things to be 100% spot on.

  6. Orry Martin (verified owner)

Fantastic flashlight that is literally the perfect size for keeping full time in your pocket. The light is more of a mix between flood and spot as opposed to the more intense spot seen in my UC35. Plenty bright enough to handle all of the situations I have put it through.

  7. Alan (verified owner)

Love this flashlight!! Have used it on a night hike and also on my bike as a headlight for a night ride In the Arizona desert. Exceeded my expectations.

  8. Bruce (verified owner)

Nice light. Small but bright. I wanted a light that would put out 700-800 lumen constantly. Many lights show that output and then step down quickly. This one does not. It will get very warm after an extended time but for walking the dog at night it stay bright and does not get so warm that it steps down. Just what I was looking for and in a small form factor.

  9. Eric F. (verified owner)

    Very bright quality craftsmanship

  10. Chris (verified owner)

My first disappointment with a Fenix product. Just received it, topped off the battery (arb-l18) and put it into “turbo” mode out in the backyard. First impression was: this must not be turbo, sure enough it was. I went inside and got my trusty 10 year old Fenix TK-41 which boasts a maximum 800 lumens. Well my 800 lumen TK-41 was about 1.25 to 1.3 times brighter than my new fancy LD30 which was supposedly throwing “1600” lumens. No way. So I read the fine print. Well this light only throws 1600 lumens for the first 6-8 minutes, then kicks down to 800. Well that couldn’t be my issue, because I don’t seem to be even getting 800, plus I had a fresh battery. Otherwise, it’s a nice solid light, as I’d expect.

    • Dianne

Hey Chris – I asked warranty to reach out to you – I think you have already spoken to Dylan. TK41 has a much higher intensity than the LD30 and that is what causes the LD30 to look as though it’s less bright than the TK41. A big head, such as TK41 equals higher candela which equals tighter beam. The TK41 is 55000 candela and the LD30 is around 10000. Additionally, the lens on the LD30 is less clear so it it’s somewhat of a diffuser.

Reliable and super bright. Best lights on the market!!

  13. Roger W. (verified owner)

Love the brightness but get very hot! Also I thought this model had a strobe light function.

    • Dianne

This does have strobe – With the light switched on, press and hold the side switch for 0.8 seconds to enter strobe, single click the side switch to cycle through Strobe→SOS, press and hold the side switch for 0.8 seconds once again to return back to the previously used output level.

These lights are BRIGHT. Well worth the money spent.

  15. Anonymous (verified owner)

Great light for its size, but a little too small for my comfort/liking. I prefer something s little bigger with the exact features.

  16. Todd B. (verified owner)

Another hit by Fenix! High quality materials, build, and design. Now just need several more

  17. Nick P. (verified owner)

Very pleased! I LOVE this light. The smaller pocket-friendly size and huge light output is great, but the fact it’s never turned on in my pocket and is easy to turn on one-handed makes it my favorite. The double clip makes it nice to have the option for a hat clip. Build quality is top-notch and is what I expect from Fenix. 100% recommend.

  18. Bob Chauncey, CPP (Ret) (verified owner)

Nice & Bright with multi settings.

  19. William Chimienti (verified owner)

I love my flashlight. Carry it everywhere. It is super bright and small enough to EDC. My only unproven concern is the battery and so far everything is perfect!!

This has turned out to be the perfect everyday light for me.
The LD30 has momentary and mode memory. Modes are spaced well and run times are good. Despite the frosted optics it still has good throw. For and edc type light. The pocket clip is a two position clip that is sturdy and very functional. I really like this clip. Similar to my SL HL-2X.
The UI is very simple and straight forward and with the mode memory it works very well for me.
Both switches work very well. The tail switch is firm and precise. It does NOT activate in my pocket and I carry it everyday all day. It won’t tail stand but I can slip it into an empty pill bottle and it does just fine.
This is the light I’ve been looking for. I’ve spent a lot of money on other lights searching for this one.
    Great job Fenix

  34. Chantel G. (verified owner)

Husband loves his light! Exactly the one he wanted. He says it’s the perfect size for every day carry!

  35. Carlo J. (verified owner)

I am a Correctional Officer, which I work the night shift and this flashlight is truly the greatest product I’ve ever purchased.

  36. Eric Davis (verified owner)

Can’t stand this flashlight on tail because the button sticks out too far. The LED has a terrible green tint, will have to replace the LED with something more neutral like the CREE XM-L2 U3 3D or the Luminus SST-40 in neutral white. Of course my warranty will be void but it’s only a $65 flashlight.

  37. Jacob (verified owner)

Amazingly bright and well made little light. I carry it everyday and have used it in temps as low as -10F just fine. Gets a little hot if you leave it on the brightest mode for a while.

  38. Keith (verified owner)

Great EDC flashlight. So much light in a small package!

  39. Earl S. (verified owner)

The only company I would buy from. I bought the Fenix LD30 to replace my old TK11. The TK11 had a good life, but I needed a new light for EDC and/or to keep in the vehicle. The LD30 is super bright at full power and floods a good size area. Normally I just use the middle setting, and that’s already bright. Small enough (for me) for EDC. Super happy with this light.

  40. Darrell (verified owner)

Great little torch. I bought several as gifts due to past experience with Fenix flashlights. This one fits nicely in my pants pockets (gave myself a gift of course), my wife’s purse, and so on. Very bright, long lasting rechargeable battery, high quality light. I love them.

  41. TannerG93 (verified owner)

Loving this light so far. Perfect size for an EDC, excellent tail switch, and great that it still uses an 18650 battery for its small size. Only thing I wish it had was a moonlight mode.

  42. Matthew F. (verified owner)

    Very happy with this light!

  43. Howard Kagiyama (verified owner)

Used on my boat, on the ocean. On a pitching deck unit just rolls around, a pronounced flat side (hex) would help. I now use it at home.

  44. Kenneth (verified owner)

This is a beautiful flashlight, really it is perfect.

  45. Matthew (verified owner)

    Excellent !

  46. Davis Napier (verified owner)

Do not buy this light if you plan to carry it in your pocket. It has a design flaw. I have carried and love the PD25 for a few years now and have been wanting an update to it, but it has never come. The PD35 and 36 are 5.5 inches long and just too long for many to EDC in the pocket. I was soooo excited to find the LD30 at only 4.3″ and 1600 lumens! I couldn’t wait. Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived. The first day I wore it, I was sitting there and felt a burning pain on my leg. I checked and somehow the light had clicked on. I fixed it and went about my day. Over the last three days the same thing has happened 4 times. I started looking at it and realized that the button is too tall. There are guards around the tail switch to keep it from accidentally being turned on. Unfortunately, the button sticks up above them just enough that they are useless. I took it to a flat table and pushed down until the guards stopped it, but not until after the button had clicked and the light turned on. To make sure, I pulled out my PD25 and tried the same thing, but the button will not click, it won’t accidentally turn on. This seems to be a design flaw.

I stand by the PD25. I love it and use it daily, but this experience has been very bad. If you are just putting it in you backpack/purse, or carrying it in a pouch on your belt it should be good. It gets very hot but it is a great little light. Would carry it for sure if the guards did what they were supposed to do.

  47. Sherry H. (verified owner)

Great light for walking the dog at night

  48. Chad H. (verified owner)

Totally love it! The perfect EDC! I like how this one is a nice flood, and not so much a thrower. Other lights this size from other companies I have will turn On in my pocket and burn my leg. This LD30 doesn’t do that for me. I think Fenix has the best tail switch in the business. You get what you pay for. Great job on this LD30 Fenix! Thank you!

  49. Joel (verified owner)

Just added this little gem to my Fenix “fleet”. Don’t let the size fool you. This light is very bright. it keeps right up with the PD36R. In fact, it actually has more flood to the beam than the 36R. if you’re on the fence about this light….Buy it!!

  50. RICHARD Szymen (verified owner)

Darn flaslight is near a spot light

  51. Ronald Holland (verified owner)

It’s great. See my review in the Ambassador section.

    I’m real happy

  53. Jeff (verified owner)

Well designed and built. Easy to use.

  54. Nathan (verified owner)

love this light.. fits good in your hand and yet small enough not to weigh ya down in your pocket.. great EDC or hunting light is what I use it for..

  55. Anonymous (verified owner)

Love it for brightness it proves for my Security job and any jobs around the house.

  56. sam bailey (verified owner)

This is a really great EDC light. Super bright with all the modes it can be used it many different scenarios. It’s tough and well made. The only thing I’d change is to make the groves on the body deeper to make it more secure in your hand.

  57. william naus (verified owner)

    Great light…even better service

  58. Brian B. (verified owner)

I’m very happy with this little light. Ive used it everyday since receiving it. It’s powerful for its size and looks great too. All of its brightness levels are distinct and useful. So yeah it’s perfect for edc .and general use.

  59. Corey Czech (verified owner)

Superb light.. edc for me. Puts all my other lights to shame!

  60. Russ W. (verified owner)

Great light for the money. Very small, brite, well built.

  61. Ryan K. (verified owner)

This light is pretty awesome, I use it at work and because it’s rechargeable, I never have to worry about a dead battery.

  62. Charlie Ronayne (verified owner)

I reviewed the LD30 on my youtube channel and since then this has been my favorite EDC flashlight. For such a small and perfect size light it has so much power and the flood is fantastic for my everyday use. That is saying a lot considering I have reviewed at least a dozen flashlights this year. As a matter of fact I love it so much I bought two more for members of the SDNT crew.

  63. Duane B. (verified owner)

Great light. Improvement would include external charge connection

  64. Ian (verified owner)

Great flashlight, the only reason for the 4 star rating is that there is no charging port on the flashlight. It does come with a battery that can be charged without the light, but I am unable to use my previously purchased batteries that lack the micro USB port.

  65. Brent H. (verified owner)

Small, light, but incredibly functional and bright!

  68. James Fantus (verified owner)

    Best flashlight ever

  69. Edward C. (verified owner)

Can’t believe how bright a pocket flashlight could be. Love the emergency flasher and strobe functions. This light is part of my home security system.

  70. Jeff (verified owner)

a very bright light when on full but I wish that the beam was more focused.

  71. MARIE (verified owner)

Super small, super bright. This is my 4th Fenix flashlight and I wish I had bought this one first.

  72. Anonymous (verified owner)

Unfortunately I recieved a malfunctioning unit, my replacement is on the way and customer service has been excellent. But to pre-order and then get a malfunctioning light is quite disappointing. I guess they’re not tested before leaving the factory

  73. David Supensky (verified owner)

Great light, just a little heaver then I expected.

  74. Robert Faurot (verified owner)

    Totally awesome!

  75. Kelly Neumann (verified owner)

This light is even cooler than I expected. Super addition to my EDC collection!

  76. Larry (verified owner)

OUTSTANDING! This is my new EDC flashlight. I’m somewhat of an LED flashlight addict & own MANY types from many manufacturers. Fenix lights are always good but this one is absolute perfection. They nailed it with this one. HIGHLY recommend!!! Don’t even think about it – just buy it – you won’t regret it…

  77. Frank W. (verified owner)

Great little light. Powerful. Shipping was fast and flawless after backordered light came in.

Isn’t this light the same as the E30R except with new features as tactical tail cap and the bigger battery?

    • Dianne

It’s same size battery. Light is a little bigger, but yes, very similar. LD30 has the tactical tail switch and does NOT have a charging port on the light itself. We have found some people love charging ports on the light and some hate it.

  79. Charlie Ronayne (verified owner)

I would have to say that the Fenix LD30 is the smallest, brightest and nicest EDC flashlight I have tested & reviewed this year.
After having mine for several days I was so convinced of its features and quality that I ordered two more for my crew.
The flood on this is just about perfect with several great power settings that combined with really good battery runtimes make it a winner.
    Enjoy your Not Thursday !

Here is in comparison to my other two fenix. The throw is better dispersed than the tk09, and has a good punch right at 1600 lumens. It does get hot but not unbearable like tk35. Small size is ideal for my tool belt.

  81. hipolito.castano@gmail.com (verified owner)

Just got the light. Amazing little thing!!! I’m more a TK kinda guy but this one amazed me. Great throw and small footprint. You can put it in your pocket or your cap. Well balanced. Turns back on at the last setting mid range is the way to go. Well balanced, ideal fro my inspection routines. Highly recommend!!!!
